Here's what Kristina had to say about the wrap, after testing and photographing it:

"This wrap is *SO* supportive with my 1 year old AND my 3 year old. It has good drape and texture. It glides into place when wrapping and stays put. It pleats nicely on my shoulders and holds a half knot. It is thicker and less snuggly then Under the Sea and Morning Glory but makes up for it with it's amazing support! Don't take the thickness the wrong's actually quite airy too! The weft sits slightly raised from the warp in a way that creates these air pockets.

I am pleasantly surprised by how comfy I am with my big gal up there. The colors are a bit chameleon like... sometimes the magenta in the weft pops and looks quite pink but other times it's this lovely flow of pinks, periwinkle and purples. I have never seen my girls take to a wrap so quickly. They were literally tug of warring over it earlier today. I'll just end by saying Magenta weft is magical."

This is the third release from our Simplicity Line, and the magenta weft combines with the blues in the warp to create a beautifully rich purple! Just like our Signature Line, the thicker yarn and airy weave means that there is no "breaking in" period of trying to soften your wrap. After the first hot wash and steam iron to set the weave, your wrap will be so soft and easy to wrap with. In fact, you might just find that the rest of your family tries to swipe it for cuddling on the couch!

Please note the drastic difference in GSM between a wrap that has been pressed and hung to dry versus a wrap that has been tumbled dry on low heat. If you do not care for beastly wraps, we strongly recommend that you always hang dry your wrap.

Width: 28" (after shrinkage)

Weave Structure: point twill

Rails: hemmed

Ends: tapered

Fiber Content: 100% cotton

250 GSM in loom state
295 GSM after the first hot wash, steam iron and air dry
310 GSM after second cool wash, tumble dry on low heat

Care: Your wrap will be shipped in loom state. It is absolutely necessary to wash and iron your wrap before using it. If you wrap with it before washing, even just briefly, you can cause thread shifting which will lead to weak spots in the cloth. The fabric needs to be washed in hot water and given a hard press to set the weave before it can bear any weight.

Instructions for the first wash:

  1. Wash in hot* water on delicate/gentle cycle using a detergent free of optical brighteners. Do not use bleach.
  2. While still damp from the wash, steam iron on low heat pressing hard to set the fibers. Make sure to iron both sides of the wrap.
  3. Hang to dry.

After the first wash, use these instructions:

  1. Wash in cool* water on delicate/gentle cycle using a detergent free of optical brighteners. Do not use bleach.
  2. While still damp from the wash, steam iron on low and then hang to dry.
  3. Tumble dry on low heat.

*Washing temperatures:

Hot wash: above 130°F / 54°C

Warm wash: between 90 - 110°F / 32.3 - 43.3°C

 Cool wash: between 60 - 80°F / 15 - 26.7°C

A bit of background on our Simplicity Line:

After the overwhelming response to the Morning Glory release in November 2015, we started looking for another mill that would be willing to create a custom, gradient warp for each new run to help us increase production. We are so happy to have found another small, family-owned textile mill in the United States to work with!

This mill uses a more modern rapier loom, which has several advantages. The loom has a 55" weaving width, so the wraps will be cut and hemmed to about 28" for those who prefer a wider wrap than our Signature Line offers. Hemming the rails will lower the cost of each wrap, since we won't have the added labor of hand-weaving the bobbin changes back into the cloth. And all of that  scrap means plenty for everyone who likes to make Tula accessories, wrap scrap jewelry, or adorable little baby shoes!

The design process for this mill is different because we do send the mill a thread-by-thread design. This means that colorways can be run again, and will be exactly the same each time except for any small changes in yarn dye lots. Release sizes may be larger than Signature Line releases, depending on demand, and each weft will be released separately.

Simplicity Line wraps will currently only be available in 100% cotton, so if you're looking for a fiber blend, check out our Signature Line!
